With the building of our new home and moving to the country, Mike and I are excited about beginning a new phase of our lives. We’ve been very blessed with wonderful family, friends, and health. Our past has been full of exciting and eventful things …from sailing an America’s Cup sailboat in the Atlantic Ocean to watching the sunrise from the 10,000 foot summit of a volcano in Maui, then cyclin 3 hours down to the base.
As we look ahead, we are looking forward to slowing down a bit and living simply. No, that doesn’t mean less traveling, we love that too much! We already have our next cruise planned next year with our friends Tim and Chrissa, we can’t give that up.
But, we are committing to pay more attention to the choices we make, and their consequences. Choices as simple as reducing waste, supporting local farmers, or growing our own food. Simple things.
Speaking of food, we paid a visit to a local orchard today, and bought these beautiful peaches. I’m thinking about freezing them…if anyone has ever tried that, I’d love to hear about it. It’ll be a first for me.

And, a stop at the local Farmer’s Market gave me something to do tonight. Because I’m not tired
. OK, I’m really tired after a long day, but it’ll be worth it for fresh peas.

Fresh peas. I haven’t had those in some time. Sounds delicious. I love peas. I too am trying to examine my life and how much I drive, how I can cut back so as to reduce toxicity to the environment, etc. I garden, but do not use pesticides. All those little things count up, don’t they, if everyone thinks about it a little more. I think growing our own food is probably one of the smartest things. It’s how I grew up.
